We also conduct and assist with education and outreach. Prairie streams and wetlands are also a conservation target for our agency as well. Our Open Fields and Waters Program also offers incentives to allow public hunting, trapping and/or fishing access on private lands.

Fontenelle Forest

Educational programming, collaboration, trading work days

Nebraska grazing lands coalition

Dedicated to the enhancement of grasslands, the Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition is comprised of ranchers and private landowners all focused on creating public awareness and improvement of the grazing lands in Nebraska. The organization’s top focus is to provide voluntary technical assistance and educational opportunities on grazing land management.

Nebraska land Trust

The Nebraska Land Trust uses voluntary land conservation agreements known as conservation easements which enable landowners to leave a permanent legacy of protected wildlife habitat, scenic views, clean water, historic sites, and working agriculture on their land.

World Wildlife Fund

We offered financial assistance to landowners who are wanting to reseed marginal cropland or depleted rangeland to a native stand.

We also have our Ranch Systems Viability Planning (RSVP) network which supports ranchers in the Great Plains who want to improve their grazing management practices, increase education and skills related to ranch and grass management, monitor ecological changes over time, and network with other producers on similar paths.

Ranches enrolled in RSVP are provided with educational scholarships, access to financial assistance to support grazing infrastructure improvements, grazing and management technical assistance, and in-depth rangeland and ecological monitoring.

We also support partner positions with many rancher led collaboratives in the Great Plains.

Robinette Farms

Robinette Farms mission is Great Food that Transforms People and the Land. We steward our land while making food available to our community.

Bird Conservancy of the Rockies

Bird Conservancy of the Rockies strives to protect birds and their habitats through an integrated approach of science, education and land stewardship.

Our stewardship biologists in the Chadron and Trenton USDA Field Offices leverage state and federal programs and provide technical assistance for private landowners to enhance grassland health and habitat for birds.

Our education team is based in Scottsbluff and provides hands-on, inquiry-based education programs to create meaningful outdoor experiences for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

Nebraska Soil Health Coalition

Our purpose is to advance producer-centered education, outreach, and adoption of soil health principles to build resilient farms, ranches, and communities across Nebraska.

Center for Rural Affairs

The Center for Rural Affairs works with producers and policy makers to promote the use of conservation programs and cost shares and protect their continued availability.

McGinn Ranch

Ranch business and Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition Grazing School partner

Prairie Plains Resource Institute

Through prairie restoration, education and our 8 preserves, we create opportunities to build lifelong connections with the land.

Bolze Ranch Angus

Mentorship for effective grazing management and lower cost, more conservation minded cow/calf production.

Platte Basin Timelapse

Platte Basin Timelapse (PBT) is a conservation storytelling project striving to connect people across the Platte Basin Watershed. We use photography, films, and stories to trace the journey of water and reveal the beauty of wildlife and the amazing people that live in this shared landscape across a diverse patchwork of ecosystems.

Telling the stories that come from grasslands is important because it can be the bridge between those who study these landscapes and others who are not in tune.

PBT's expertise in timelapse technology has helped us document the changing of seasons across a multitude of ecosystems, including Nebraska's Grasslands, allowing us to see the earth come to life.

Natural Resource Conservation service (USDA-NRCS)

Free technical and financial assistance to help Nebraska farmers and ranchers maintain and address resource concerns on grazing lands.

Seven Pines Ranch

We are a working cow/calf ranch and also offer private camping experiences at our ranch headquarters. Certified consulting of Sandhills rangeland is also a service we offer.

Wachiska restores tallgrass prairies in Southeast Nebraska. Promotes birding on all of the publicly accessible Wachiska owned prairies. Provides nature education with after school programs and field trips to tallgrass prairies.

Wachiska advocates for sustainability of our natural community through policy work and attending conferences. Additionally Wachiska hosts events engaging with the public and builds community around a shared respect for tallgrass prairies.

Center for Great Plains Studies

The Center for Great Plains Studies, with its Great Plains Art Museum, is an interdisciplinary educational and cultural hub that cultivates awareness of and engagement with the diverse people, cultures, and natural environments of the Great Plains. We publish scholarship, create programming, and tell stories about the region.

Grassroots Carbon partners with ranchers to improve grassland health and generate new annual income through soil carbon storage.

Monarch joint venture

We offer technical assistance to private working landowners, state/federal entities, NGO's, and beyond. We have a vested interest in keeping the integrity of our grasslands in Nebraska intact and actively participate in helping to provide education around and funding/manpower for prescribed fire, brush management, and seeding for enhancement or restoration purposes.

Lower Niobrara Natural Resource District

The Lower Niobrara NRD is proud to serve Boyd, Keya Paha, Knox, Rock, and Holt Counties with programs that protect lives, preserve property, and ensure a sustainable future. From the groundwater beneath us to the students learning above it--we are here to help our region thrive.

Lower Niobrara NRD's goal is to widely educate and conserve, manage and enhance the water, soil, range, wildlife and forest resources within the district for the benefit of all.

Central Community College - holdrege

Central Community College hosts its annual Central Nebraska Regenerative Ag Conference in the fall.

Join us as experts and practitioners share how to incorporate sustainable practices into your operation to reduce chemical inputs, increase the impact of precious water and create a better bottom line.

Nebraska Department of Agriculture

The purpose of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) is twofold: to encourage and promote the interest of agriculture through advocacy and education; and to fufill NDA's regulatory responsibilities as defined by statute.

We also regularly host guest speakers and events on campus.

Sandhills Task Force

The Sandhills Task Force offers a wide range of services and resources designed to support ranchers, landowners, and conservation partners in the Nebraska Sandhills.

We provide technical assistance and cost-share support for on-the-ground conservation practices, including planned grazing systems, prescribed burning, control of eastern red cedar, and wetland and stream restoration.

In addition to hands-on project support, the Sandhills Task Force hosts educational workshops, field days, and community events; maintains a comprehensive resource library of guides and research tools; and oversees programs such as the Sandhills Ranch Internship and the Sandhills Stewards network to build knowledge, skills, and local stewardship capacity.

McMillan Hairpin Ranch

Good grazing stewardship and prescribed burning for rangeland health.

United States Forest Service

Since 2016, the Bessey Ranger district has actively worked with neighboring landowners, Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), The Nature Conservancy, Sandhills Task Force, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and other partners to prevent the spread of eastern redcedar by removing low-density infestations first.

The Bessey Ranger District aims to continue this important work and demonstrate successful management of eastern red cedar that is cost effective. Once compiled and analyzed, we will share our experiences of what techniques and conditions are most effective to protect this ecosystem.

We offer technical expertise, grazing land leases, recreation, outreach and education, and risk-taking approaches that can be shared with landowners.
